Lowe's return as chairman ended with the club entering administration and facing a 10-point deduction.

In April 2009, Southampton Football Club entered administration, marking the end of Rupert Lowe's involvement with the club.

Lowe had returned as chairman in 2008 in an attempt to rescue the club's finances, but was unable to prevent the administration.

The club received a 10-point deduction and was relegated to League One, dropping to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history.

It would take Southampton several years to recover, eventually returning to the Premier League in 2012 under new ownership.
